Laser printing basically requires both components, toner and drum.

The image drum is the unit with which printers or photocopiers transfer the toner onto the paper. The drum is often sold in drum kits, which contain everything you need to exchange the drum. Many small laser printers now use tonercartridges that combine both the toner and the drum in a single cartridge.

For many manufacturers, such as Ricoh, it is designed as a single part and must therefore be replaced separately.
